MDSolids 4.0 Full 21: A Comprehensive Software for Civil, Mechanical, and Aerospace Engineering

Hi,the article is great. It's a perfect introduction to symmetry and other boundary conditions in FEA. But I have a question - can we use symmetry in the case of a simply-supported beam with horizontal forces where one support is of pinned type and the other one is of roller type? Boundary conditions aren't fully symmetric since they differ by one degree of freedom on each side - one support (pinned) has axial translation blocked while the other support (roller) has it free. However, the reponse of the structure should be symmetric if there are no axial loads. So can we make use of symmetry and model only one half of the beam? Does it matter which side we choose?
